Quake/Tsunami Relief and Resources
UPDATE: Also see How Do I Volunteer as an International Relief Worker in Southeast Asia?
Via Jon Lebkowsky:
Volunteers have set up a The South-East Asia Earthquake and Tsunami blog to gather and coordinate information about resources, aid, donations, and volunteer efforts in response to the devastation in Southeast Asia.
My sympathies to all affected.

I am interested in volunteering to go provide assistance to wherever is needed for the Tsuanmi relief campaign. I am 48, very fit, business executive (telecommunications) skilled at coordinating large tasks. I have the means and time to provide my passage to wherever is needed for up to three months.
How can I assist and provide meaningful support?

I feel so lucky to be living in a country that has the means financially to assist in this terrible time. But I would like to do my part too. I would appreciate any info regarding my going to volunteer my time to help. I work with senior citizens and I wish to do whatever I can to help.

I am a renowned Psychologist and my book Mama and Me has sold nearly 10000 copies . It is a reference book on good upbringing of your children aged 0-5 years.
I pledge $1 on each book sold for the people affected by the Tsunami that has created havoc in Asia .

I would like to donate my time to any of the affected countries for any volunteer work necessary. I am a healthy 23 year old male with people organizing skills (hotel and restaurant management-- I know a bit about getting large amounts of people fed) who has a bit of Thai language and has spent time in SE Asia before. Don't mind physical labor or harsh conditions. Please contact me if I can help.

Please give to the Aid Agencies. They have the experienced personnel ready to go. What they need most now is money. It's not seeming like much but it's what I'm doing to help. Be a pebble and start a landslide please. If each person reading this donated $20 U.S. that would be a significant amount of cash. Of course, my deepest sympathies to all the many thousands affected.

I realize that the best way to help is to send money and that organizations are afraid that random volunteers could potentially be more of a nuisance than a real help, but in the face of the massive scale of this disaster, I canīt help but think that there must be SOME way for those who are semi-skilled, but most of all enthusiastic and eager, to be able to help in some way. I am one of those people. Please, share anything on volunteering any of you may find. Namaste...

I can't help but feel compelled to do whatever it takes to help the people affected by this enormous tragedy. I have already made arrangements for transportation but have nowhere to go. Does anybody have contact info for groups coordinating volunteers in the affected areas?
Any help would be sincerely appreciated

Speaking of the need for people with specialized skills, I did not notice teacher as being on that list. How effective could a teacher be to such an internatinal relief organiation?
