peterkaminski.com upgraded to Movable Type 3.2
I've upgraded my Movable Type blog from v2.661 to the all-new, all-singing, all-dancing Movable Type 3.2.
The main impetus was that I hit the disk quota at my hosting provider (a side-effect of too much logging during some Eaton R&D and testing, I think), which caused my MT-Blacklist database to get messed up. I'm taking Jay Allen at his word: "I know that many of you spam-weary MT users can't imagine living without MT-Blacklist, but believe me, you don't need it. It takes infinitely more effort to maintain your blacklist, it's less accurate and effective and with Movable Type 3.2's plugin API, it's nothing more than a poor hack."
Although of course, I'm still working on Eaton and looking forward to wrapping MT with it. :-)
Anyway, the upgrade went extremely smoothly -- download and unpack the files to the right place, click and go. I did have to re-delete about 170 spam trackbacks, which were apparently unpublished by MT-Blacklist but not deleted, or something. I'm still nervous and itchy about comment spam without MT-Blacklist, but again, hopefully Jay's right. :-)
Let me know if you notice any problems with the blog, but so far it looks like everything is pretty much back to normal.
Comments
Let me know how your comment ratings work. I'm still having problems with it working 100% of the time. Often no rating at all is given to a comment. :(
